Sorry about that. The system certainly shouldn’t be discouraging or limiting participation!
I’m not sure which limit you hit. New users are somewhat restricted, for reasons that I rely on the Discourse developers to have thought about (to limit spam and such), but the restrictions automatically and usually quickly fade away. Looking at the discourse documentation maybe you were still “trust level 0” (!), though you aren’t now!
