I’m having a weird issue trying to add my new server (80.217.228.9) to the pool. I keep getting the “Could not check NTP status” error, even though I’ve confirmed it’s actually reachable from the outside.
IP: 80.217.228.9 (Tele2, Sweden)
Setup: Debian VM, Docker (cturra/ntp) using network_mode: host.
Status: Synced and healthy as Stratum 2 (upstream: Netnod/Google).
I’ve verified this manually from a completely different network. Running w32tm /stripchart from a remote Windows PC on a different ISP works every single time with zero packet loss. The port is definitely open and responding.
Web Wiz NTP Diagnostics gives me green lights across the board.
The weird part: While clicking “Add” on the site, I’ve been running tcpdump -ni any udp port 123 on the VM. I see my own test traffic coming in and out, but I get zero hits from the pool’s monitors.
Since it’s clearly reachable from other points globally, it feels like the monitor packets are getting dropped somewhere before they even hit my network. Has anyone else with Tele2 in Sweden seen peering issues with the monitors lately? Or am I missing something obvious?
Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks!
