Adding servers to the China zone

I currently see between 20 to 55 Mbit/s with a 1Gbit Setting. So quiet acceptable rates. Did not drop out a single time in the last 2 weeks. https://www.ntppool.org/scores/144.76.76.107

Thanks.
I have a new server https://www.ntppool.org/scores/167.99.110.109. Can you also add it to the cn zone and remove from us zone?

Okey, added to CN zone.

The real and only problem is the lack of NTP servers within the GFW. Millions or billions of clients and none willing to take a bit of the load.

But anyway, my perfectly fine french server still droppring since a few month without reason, and nobody cares. So, now, so do I.

Nope, we have 20+ in CERNET, 5 in Alibaba, 5 in Tencent, 2 in NTSC

And how many of these are in the pool? We had 300 in France only, before the monitoring started to behave eraticaly, 1900 in Europe. And obviously I do not take into account the hundreds or thousands used in universities, businesses and such private or semi-private use which remove the burden on the pool.
There is obviously a lack of motivation to provide such service within the GFW but a strong interest to use it. I would be politicaly incorect, I would call such a selfish behaviour an abuse.

Agree. Magic isnā€™t free.

Almost all, but most of them get kicked.

One of mine is kicked so often on IPv4 I think to quit the pool for good. BTW, any chinese corp or uni willing to offer a dedicated server for a monitoring station ?

Thatā€™s what I want solve. If with some mathmatic, monitor no longer need a precise time, then we can use VPS as monitor. And, maybe Alibaba or Tencent can provide such a dedicated server, but Iā€™m not sure.

Well, if none of the dozens of multi billions dollars revenue semi-etatic companies canā€™t provide a dedicated server for free, we might just ban all Chinese IPs from querying the poolā€™s DNS.
You canā€™t get protection from convoluted regulations like ICP, GFW, bureaucratic harassment and at the same time abuse your neighbor counties who try to play fair. Same with India with their astonishing two, yes, 2, IPv4 servers, with billions of connected devices, itā€™s just making fun of people.
When others players cheat, we need to remember them the rules, and if they carry on this behavior, just exclude them of the game. Period.

I remember that they even donā€™t have a Firewallā€¦ Itā€™s more interesting, more interesting than what happened inside China. Letā€™s see howā€™s things going.

Hi, I have a new server up and it is stable now, can you add it to the CN zone?
https://www.pool.ntp.org/scores/116.203.151.74
https://www.pool.ntp.org/scores/2a01:4f8:c2c:477d::1

And the ipv6 address of a previous added server is not in CN zone yet, can you also add that to it?
https://www.pool.ntp.org/scores/2001:41d0:305:2100::3f3e

Thanks

Ok, all added to the CN zone.
But IPv6 servers has never been an issue with the CN zone as its very little IPv6 traffic.

It seems like the CN zone has been stable for a while now with around 40-50 servers.
Good job everyone :grinning:

Many severs seems to be overloaded BTW, as their score drops below 10 quite frequently.

There are at least two group of people willing to provide a monitoring station with GPS source: A team from Beijingā€™s universities (TUNA & friends); A team from within Tencent.

They donā€™t know how to proceed though. The other thread (looking for additional monitoring station) seems quiet too.

Hi Felix,

I will send you a PM. In the last days I got the software more or less packaged as an RPM/.deb. Thereā€™s still a bunch of software work to be done to manage this generally, but getting some China monitors up would be good.

All of my servers are doing great. I bumped tick.montreal.ca.logiplex.net (https://www.ntppool.org/scores/192.99.68.38) up to 1000MiBit from 500MiBit the other day because there are now more than 70 CN zone servers. Glancing at it today it was serving 10kqps, but does still get the OVH DDOS filters in a fuss. tick.hk.china.logiplex.net and tick2.hk.china.logiplex.net have been in the 19-20 score range IPv4 and IPv6 for a very extended period of time and tick.nj.logiplex.net is doing very well with what seems to be a permanent 20. I have not seen them at anything else lately while I have been observing. Montreal will fall in and out as filters become active until I can coerce OVH to kindly remove the filters.

Edit: today, my six entries other than Montreal are 20 while Montreal is 14.3 this seems to be a large change for the better.

Our DC-lab had server in China pool but we ran to problems with our firewall and had to leave cn pool. We have made pretty big improvements to our firewall and would like to try our new server in china pool.

You can add https://www.ntppool.org/scores/195.148.70.254 to china pool.

@dclabra
iā€™ve added your server to the cn pool.

I am also ready to participate. Please add my server too.
