Difference between two DNS Queries graphs

On https://status.ntppool.org/ I see two DNS graphs: β€œπ™³π™½πš‚ πš€πšžπšŽπš›πš’πšŽπšœβ€ and β€œπ™ΏπšŽπšŠπš” π™³π™½πš‚ πš€πšžπšŽπš›πš’πšŽπšœβ€, and I’m not sure I understand the difference between the two.

If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.

My best bet:

DNS Queries = number of queries per second averaged over 5 minutes

Peak DNS Queries = number of queries during the busiest second within those 5 minutes

Edit: Yeah, that’s it. I found a reference.

yes, correct! They are both somewhat smoothed out all the same, in particular in the longer date range views (due to how the status page API works). The actual peaks are usually several times higher.

Depending on the data source we’re in the top 20-30 of most queried domains in the world. :exploding_head:
