IPv6 enablement

Hi there.

I added an IPv6 server to the pool, but I can’t find AAAA records on either {ru,europe,0,us,de}.pool.ntp.org.

Am I right that right now IPv6 records simply don’t get served to clients?

IPv6 is served on the 2.(xxx).pool.ntp.org queries only. It was done initially to allow IPv6 servers to be added to the pool without overwhelming them.

Example:

$ host 2.europe.pool.ntp.org

2.europe.pool.ntp.org has address 185.82.232.254
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has address 147.231.100.5
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has address 193.70.90.148
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has address 193.219.61.120
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has IPv6 address 2a02:2290::16
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has IPv6 address 2a02:2a08:102::220
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has IPv6 address 2a01:4f8:162:548a::2
2.europe.pool.ntp.org has IPv6 address 2001:1600:4:1::123

Isn’t there any plan to add AAAA records to one more name, like 1.pool.ntp.org too? Two names (0 and 3) would still have only A record. That is a smooth move towards full support of IPv6.

@Ask is in control of that. There has been talk about it, and I’m sure it’s on his list of things “To-Do”.

Hi, I was wondering; is there any news on this? :thinking:

Come on please, are you only here to push the failed IPv6?
Every topic you open or re-open is about IPv6.

Nobody cares about IPv6, trust me, nobody does.

IPv6 will die soon if they don’t re-think it, as it’s impossible to implement unless you smoked weed or used some crack.

It is not my fault that there are quite a few topics about IPv6, so please don’t blame it on me.

Given the amount of IPv6-topics here that seems not entirely true.
