Yes agreed. Looking back at the notes I took it was actually 128Kb connection speed. I guess that any server added to the pool, as soon as it is known gets hit by a number of large clients and their requests. Real requests or DDOS does not really matter as it still floods the system.  
Interested to know if anyone has any thoughts on how to get a server up and running here.
